Greetings FUMC Church Family: I hope and pray that you are having a great week. Come to church on Sunday as we celebrate Mother’s Day. Remember also that our United Methodist Men will be sponsoring a special breakfast Saturday morning for the whole church in honorof Mother’s Day.

We will be focusing on John 15: 9-17 in the message on Sunday, thinking about what it means to abide in Christ and to bear fruit for God’s kingdom. What did Jesus mean when he said that we did not choose him but he chose us?

Think about the obstacles that you face in allowing God’s Spirit to transform you. As we think about the power of the risen Christ, we need to ask the question “so what?”, and ask it boldly. His living presence in our lives should make all the difference.

Please pray for our community, and for our church. Pray also for our graduates. There will be a special brunch honoring our graduates between services this Sunday. Taylor Woltman and Matt Blair graduate from Space Coast High School, and Rachel Garza will receive her MBA degree.

Please call me if there is a special prayer or ministry need in your life or in the life of your family. See you Sunday.

God Bless you.

Dear FUMC-PSJ Church Family:

I hope everyone will come and support our scouts this Sunday as they lead worship. You will be blessed by variety of young men who make up our very active scouting program.

Our Ash Wednesday Service last night ushered in our Lenten season, and we are looking at a theme of “Lessons from the Wilderness.” The messages throughout Lent will relate to this theme. If you are looking for a Bible study for Lent, read the book of Exodus. It is exactly 40 chapters, one for each day of Lent.

I have written a little more about Lent both in the new edition of our newsletter (coming out Sunday), and on the website. Please check out my first blog entry on the website. It should post soon. (LOL)

The website has had some much needed changes recently. Please take a look.

Have a wonderful Friday and a great weekend!

Blessings,

Welcome to my blog, and thank you for visiting the website of FUMC-PSJ! This year, we will be exploring the theme of “Lessons from the Wilderness” during the Lenten seaon. We will be looking at the effects of being in the wilderness in the lives of the Israelites, in the life of Jesus, and in all of our lives. What does the wilderness mean? For some, it means times when we are away from God, either because we are pursuing our own definitions of success, or perhaps because we feel God has abandoned us. It may mean that we are at a time of spiritual, psychological, or emotional drought. We know that God never abandons us, but He also does not force Himself upon us.

I encourage you, as a Lenten practice this year, to read the Old Testament book of Exodus. It has exactly 40 chapters, so it is perfect for Lent. Think about how God taught the Israelites through Moses and Aaron and all of their experiences in the wilderness. What does this tell us about God’s lessons for us? We serve and worship a God who is faithful even when we are not.

Please pray that this year our church will grow in our spiritual depth during Lent, and pray that we learn how to be effective messengers of Christ’s good news for all the world.

May God richly bless you as you seek His kingdom first. Please contact me if I can help you in any manner.

Pastor Steve Hart
